Wayne and I took a weekend trip to Charleston to meet our photographer for the wedding and take engagement pictures. Meet Ash Little!
The drive was kinda long at about 7.5 hours but it was well worth it! We stayed at I'On Inn in Mt Pleasant. I couldn't help but tell Wayne constantly: "I love this paint! I love these floors! I love the sheets! I love, love, love..." and so on : )
Our first night there we ate dinner at Slightly North of Broad on East Bay St. Locals call it SNOB. The food was okay but we didn't write home about it. Anyway, it was great to get downtown and see historic Charleston for the first time! After dinner, Wayne and I walked through the market and down several streets using our "map" (SNOB's hostess tore it off a pamphlet, we must have screamed tourist, haha!)
The next day was FULL of fun! First up, walking the streets of Charleston in the daylight! So many beautiful houses and landscapes. Don't forget the amazing shopping! Good thing I was feeling broke~ a Louis Vuitton bag had my name all over it~ I almost cried when I saw it!
The streets smelled somewhat like horse pee. We decided against the carriage rides but enjoyed watching them walk by! Maybe next time!
Lunch was amazing at Cru Cafe! We both couldn't resist the hamburger. And yes, I tortured him by asking our waitress to capture the moment!
Here's Wayne trying to figure out how to get back to the harbor where we parked. He's using the handy dandy map!
Our attempt to catch a bike taxi back was unsuccessful. A piece of Godiva was needed and devoured! We made it back to the Harbor and took a stroll through the gardens.
We headed back to the Inn for a quick nap before our pictures with Ash. Opps! 5 o'clock came too quick and Ash was at our door! We managed grab clothes and head out to get our engagement pics done! I can't wait to see the pictures! We went to so many locations so they will be full of variety! Thanks to Ash I had a great evening full of kisses by Wayne! He kept saying "give her a lil kiss" hehe! Wayne and I had dinner at Charleston's Grill. Live jazz coming from the lounge and a beautiful luxurious setting was perfect after a long day! Our day was absolutely romantic and I told Wayne it was the best day of my life! Plus, I had "Tasting of the Plums" for dessert.
Ash offered to do more pictures in the morning at sunrise. I told you this guy was awesome! Sunday morning we headed down to Folly Beach. All of us are night people, so I couldn't believe we made it there before the sun! Wayne was like the guys in the Taco Bell commercial. He could smell bacon in the air and could think about nothing else! Haha! It was a little chilly on the beach. We saw an amazing sunrise! The highlight of the trip!
On the ride back, Ash told us to go behind this vacant building. Look at what was back there!
We were both starving and Ash recommended Hominy Grill. We ordered banana bread, which came sliced thick, buttered and browned in a skillet! Heaven!
This picture is deceiving. If you ever decide to eat here, there is a line! We were 45 minutes early.
After breakfast we headed back to the Inn to check out. We were in a hurry to pick Blue up by 5 so he wouldn't have to spend an extra night. Guess what? He spent an extra night... Because of this!
We sat there for 2 hours! People played football, made sandwiches, and made new friends. Wayne happened to be the first to designate a pee area. It was funny to watch all the men go to his "spot"! I told Wayne he should go back to mark his spot again! Haha! Despite the long wait and the long drive and Blue's long Bed and Biscuit stay~ we stayed in a good mood! We had a wonderful trip!
